According to the author, Keith B. Poole, a well in the village is haunted by the apparition of a weeping woman.
It is claimed that she was the daughter of Philip Wesson, a Royalist officer during the Civil Wars. She was in love with a Roundhead officer. On the night before the battle that both of the men in her life were to engage in, he told his daughter that he was convey news by coded trumpet blasts. One would mean his death, two the death of her lover, and three that both had been killed.
As the day wore in, three distinct trumpet blasts were heard. The young woman ran and threw herself down a well to her death. As a consequence, it is her forelorn ghost that is reported.
