Shefford Woodlands

Great Shefford Woodland

The Shefford Woodlands are located to the south of the village, and it is here that people have reported the ghost of the evil Wild Darrell appearing. His grisly apparition, with his head "horribly awry", has been cited where the Roman Road crosses with the A338.

Darrell Was thrown from his horse and killed after seeing a vision of a burning baby – the child he had previously murdered at his house by throwing into the fire. He escaped the hangman's noose because of his family connections.
