The Murdered Farmer

The apparition of a farmer, who was murdered in the locality in 1848, reputedly haunts a road that connects to the A418. The victim was travelling home from market when footpads attacked him. His stricken wife saw the ghost of the farmer in a dream.

She reported seeing him clutching his chest from wounds sustained by being struck with a hammer. This resulted in a search for the body and the apprehension and hanging of the murderers.
