Woodcroft Castle
The apparition of Dr Michael Hudson haunts the castle. Hudson was chaplain to Charles I, and cruelly dispatched by the Roundheads. Depending on the version, he was either beheaded or discovered clinging on to the side of the tower so his hands were severed causing him to fall. Another version stated that he jumped to his death rather than surrender.
