The Omen of Death

The legend holds that if the church clock strikes on a Sunday morning during the singing of the hymn before the sermon is delivered - or at evensong before the collect against devils - the parish will see a death before the next Sunday.

Veryan is a coastal village on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall, England.

The parish itself is situated along 1.5 miles of coast with sandy beaches, notably Carne and Pendower.
