The entrance to Fardel Manor

Fardel Manor

The Fardel Stone once formed part of a nearby bridge. The stone is inscribed with the Celtic Ogham script, which according to some is believed to be the language of the mythical Atlantis. Between Fardel Manor and the bridge mentioned above is a field purported by some to be un-cultivatable, and containing buried treasure. A female apparition dressed in dark rustling silk, which “glides up and down the road at night”, guards the hoard.
