A house has existed in some form here since 1575. The house was rebuilt in a Gothic Revival style in the early-19th century, but by the 1980's the house had become derelict and the estate divided. It has since been restored and it is not open to the public.
It is reputed to be haunted by three ghosts - that of a page boy who was murdered by a butler; a man with his head under his arm appearing as a death omen for the owner; and a black hound.
