The Church of St Mary (the remains of which are pictured above) is reputedly haunted by ghostly music and screams. The author, Richard Jones, took a number of photographs for Haunted Britain which appear to show some anomalous mist - one of which is included in the book.

Avenbury is a civil parish in Herefordshire, England.
It is located on the A465, just south of Bromyard, and by the River Frome. Avenbury was mentioned on the Domesday Book.
