Combe Bank School

Combe Bank School

Combe Bank School is an independent day school for boys and girls, and therefore is NOT OPEN to the public.

According to Coxe, the house was once the home of Lord Ferrers and his wife. He murdered his steward for giving evidence against him in a petition to divroce his wife. Consequently, he was executed at Tyburn in 1760. On the scaffold, he cursed his wife to die a more painful death than him. She died in a fire at the house in 1807, and allegedly haunted the building for a number of years afterwards.
