The Grand Theatre

The Grand Theatre has been a major part of the social and cultural life of Lancaster since being built in 1782. That makes it the third oldest theatre in Great Britain. The theatre is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The building is reputedly haunted by a grey lady that walks across the auditorium or sitting silently at the back of the stalls. Some believe this apparition to be the noted actress, Sarah Siddons (5th July 1755 – 8th June 1831).
