The Black Cloud
The author Coxe details a rather unusual apparition, that of a Black Cloud which appears in the locality. It is said to cause a feeling of “utter terror” and causes animals to be “driven frantic”.

Burford is a small town on the River Windrush in the Cotswold Hills in west Oxfordshire, England.
It is situated about 18 miles west of Oxford, 22 miles southeast of Cheltenham and only about 2 miles from the Gloucestershire boundary.
