On the hill overlooking the village, the apparition of a woman “with gauzy shawl... and glaring eyes” has been reported.

The Holy Well

The well is located on private property, but was once said to cure eye ailments. It was situated in a small baptistery with stone seating.

Wembdon was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having "5 villagers and 6 smallholders with four ploughs".
