The sounds of screaming witches have been reported across the Bay (above). These are said to be the victims of the Witchfinder General, the infamous Matthew Hopkins. The loudest screams are said to emanate from one particular woman named Elizabeth Clarke, who was “a cripple” according to the author Coxe in Haunted Britain.

Brantham is a village in Suffolk, England.
It is located close to the River Stour and the border with Essex, around 2 miles north of Manningtree, and around 9 miles southwest of Ipswich.
