Bridge in Dunwich Woods

Dunwich Woods

The paths that meander through the woods at Dunwich (like that pictured above) are said to be haunted by a broken-hearted young man, who was forbidden to be with the true love of his life. He is supposedly connected with the Barne family of Sotterly Hall six miles away. Another member of the Barne family frequents the area in phantom form upon his “fine Arab thoroughbred”.

The Headland

The headland to the north of Dunwich is the haunt of the Black Shuck.

Dunwich Beach

The "once-great" town of Dunwich now lies beneath the sea, according to Jones. It is said that those strolling along the beach can sometimes hear the bells of the town drifting along the shoreline. Some of those that lived there are also said to have been sighted along the cliffs.
