Southwold Beach

The Beach

Three local fishermen reported witnessing the ghost of a man on the beach (pictured above). They claim the ghostly man simply disappeared before their very own eyes. The apparition was described as wearing “a long brown coat, white socks and tall hat”.

Gun Hill

A soldier decapitated when one of the cannon misfired reputedly haunts Gun Hill. He is always reported standing by one of the six cannon that are located on the hill.

Sutherland House

A “red haired woman waiting for the return of Lord Sandwich” haunts Sutherland House. Footsteps and the sound of doors opening are reportedly heard on 28th May, which is the anniversary of the Lord's death as he was killed in battle at sea.

The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage was converted into shops and offices, and are haunted by audible phenomena that included “deep sighs, heavy footsteps and clanking chains”.

Southwold is a small town on the North Sea coast in Suffolk, England.

It is located at the mouth of the River Blyth within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town is around 11 miles south of Lowestoft, and 29 miles northeast of Ipswich.
