Claremont House

85 High Street

According to Matthews, a row of modern shops replaced what was once a site occupied by a Georgian House at 85 High Street. In 1812, the novelist Anna Porter observed whom she thought was her neighbour enter her house in a distressed state, only to leave moments later. Enquiries revealed that the neighbour has died at the time Porter observed the figure, which means that this occurrence could be classified as a Crisis Apparition.
