The Commandery is a historic building and is a Grade I listed building. It has been used for many purposes during its history, including a Church, a house, monastic hospital and hotel. It is now a museum open to the public in the care of Worcester City Museums.
It is reputedly haunted by something that terrified a male visitor some years ago to such an extent that he left the building in a hurry and refused to explain what it was that upset him so much. Others have experienced a "clammy sensation" and "overwhelming presence". Apparitions sighted include an old lady and a male that is looks like William, 2nd Duke of Hamilton. Staff have been pushed and doors rattled.
