Crawford Priory is situated about 2 miles southwest of Cupar. It is a former residence of the Earls of Crawford, Earls of Glasgow and Barons Cochrane of Cults. Originally built in 1758, it was substantially enlarged and extended in the early nineteenth century.
The gothic style has the look of a priory, but it had had no religious connections. It is a listed building, but has sadly fallen into a state of disrepair and is therefore NOT open to the public.
The grounds are reputedly haunted by the eccentric Lady Crawford, whose ghost wanders the overgrown landscape.
