Johnstown

Along the route of the A40 out of Carmarthen at a location called Johnstown, there was once the old road. This was reputedly the haunt of the ghost of a witch. The case was first recorded in 1831.

The Old Paper Mill

One night prior to 1831, a man walking home past the old paper mill reported an encounter with “something” that was “clad in white and about the size of a boy of twelve”, standing in the hedge. He approached it, but it moved away from him. He followed it into a field, where it vanished.

The Furious Phantom Farmer

Again prior to the 1830’s, a traveller was walking in a meadow when the ghost of the farmer who once owned the land he was walking on accosted him. The ghost allegedly hit him with a stick because the man was trespassing! Such was the experience, it is said that the poor man was confined to bed for several days afterwards.
