Valle Crucis Abbey

Plas Newydd

Reports claim that the ghosts Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby still haunt the house they fell in love with centuries ago. According to locals, by the end of their lives they had become eccentrics, having cut their hair short and wearing men’s clothing. Apparently, their “mannish figures” have been seen in the grounds.

The Fishermans Cottage

In a fisherman’s cottage located at beside the River Dee in Llangollen, the ghost of a young woman has been seen. It is not know who she is, or why she supposedly haunts the building.

Valle Crucis Abbey

Sources state that the ghost of Owain Glyndwr appeared at Valle Crucis Abbey (pictured above), and gave a prophesy to the then Abbott. Other apparitions are said to include ghostly monks (sometimes in procession) in brown habits, and one witness reported some kind of dazzling light emanating from the ground, which was being circled by people in golden helmets.
