Redundant church at Llanllawer

The Holy Well

The spring is enclosed in well chamber of rough masonry, and is approximately 6 1/2ft deep. It has reputed healing powers for any eye problems. Coins or pins were said to be given as offerings, but if someone wanted to wish bad luck on somebody they should bend the pins.

NB We do not advise drinking from any of these sources.

Hen Galan

In the Gwain Valley, they celebrate New Year’s Day on 13th January, and have a custom of the local children singing from farm to farm, during which parents keep an open house. Unknown to many people, is that the Welsh New Year - Hen Galan - is celebrated on January 13, almost two weeks later than the traditional date observed elsewhere.
