The Well

The well is known as St Mary's, Lady’s Well or Ladywell, and can be found to some 200 yards above the church. It is noted for its healing properties for the eyes and curiously its echo!

Speen (Roman ‘Spinae’) is a village in Berkshire, England.

It lies on the Ermin Street/Ermine Way, the main Cirencester to Silchester Roman road. The English Civil War Second Battle of Newbury took place here on 27th October 1644.
