Buckfastleigh Church

The area is said to be the haunt of one Squire Caball and his pack of Black Hounds. His tomb is visible in the churchyard, contained within a special porch. So worried were villagers that the evil man would return after his death, that a stone slab - which is still in place - was laid on top of his tomb! This has not stopped his apparition from appearing and accompanying his baying hounds across Dartmoor on stormy nights.
