The George Hotel

The George Hotel is believed to be a 15th century building possibly originating as the court house of the Abbots of Tavistock.

 

It is reputedly haunted by a naked female ghost and areas of "intense cold".

St. John's Well

St. John's Well is on the moors to the east of Hatherleigh. It is in a brick well house with a wooden door and was used by Tavistock abbey. No properties are described for it.

St. Mary's Well

St. Mary's Well can be found in a mossy stone-lined chamber. However, it is in a private woodland. Its waters were used for lovers and was once dressed with clouties. The well was also visited on Ascension day for special revels. Coxe states that it was said to cure sore eyes.
