Tetcott House

Tetcott House was the home of the Arscott family until the line ended in 1788, with the death of its most infamous resident “Black John” Arscott. He was an eccentric man, who some villagers believed harboured a darker side, such as keeping “familiars”. He is said to haunt the area of the house mounted on his favourite horse, Blackbird.

Tetcott Park

Another ghost haunts the park nearby, and that is an earlier member of the Arscott family known as the “Wicked Arscott” who was lynched from an oak tree. The scene of the lynching is said to be re-enacted.
