Littledean Jail

Littledean Jail

Littledean Jail was once dubbed the "Alcatraz of the Forest". This imposing ediface was opened in 1791 and served as a prison until in the late 1850's it became a police station. It remained so until 1972, and the last court hearing took place in the building in 1985. Since 2003 it has operated as a museum of crime and punishment.

The building is reputedly haunted. Witnesses have reported the apparition of a woman wearing a white shirt and black trousers. Objects have moved and electrical lighting has suffered interference. Audible phenomena include bangs and pitiful crying. Pictured left is the entrance courtesy of Jaggery.
