Theatre Royal

Margate Theatre Royal was used as a live theatre from 1787 to 1963 with a period for chapel use during the 1840s, and cinema between the wars. It is still used for performances to this day.

The theatre is reputedly haunted by an actress named Sarah Thorne who died in 1899 and an actor who killed himself in one of the boxes. Strange lights have been reported flitting around inside the building.
