The Yew Grove

A sacred yew grove in Cholderton was once used by Druids – but is now shunned by villagers after dark. However, author Antony D. Hippisley-Coxe does not state why.

The Well

A clergyman who died in the 1890’s is throught to frequent the place of his death. It is not known whethere he fell or was pushed into the well. All that is known is that his slippers were placed neatly together on the wellhead wall.

Cholderton, or more properly West Cholderton, is a village in Wiltshire, England.

The village is about 4 miles east of the town of Amesbury, on the A338 about 1 mile south of the A303 trunk road.
