Aberbargoed

Markham Common

The area of Markham Common, which lies at the top of Aberbargoed off Commin Road, is reputedly haunted by a figure that glides along and then vanishes without trace.

The origin of the story is unknown at the time, but some believe it may have something to do with the old Isolation Hospital that once occupied some of the common land.

Aberbargoed Hospital

The ghost of a mysterious figure sighted on the wards by staff once reportedly haunted the old hospital in Aberbargoed, which closed in November 2010 and was subsequently demolished. Some believed that it was an old miner. The building certainly did have an eerie atmosphere, especially after dark. Perhaps the ghost is still thereā€¦
