Ffynnon Josi

In a field opposite to the location of the Isolation Hospital, there is a well that was held in high regard for healing, although the author Coxe does not state what for.

NB We do not advise drinking from any of these sources.

The Red Lion

Apparently the village has deep historical links with the Rebecca Riots. There is rumoured to be a “secret passage” under the main road running through the village, which was said to have been used by Oliver Cromwell and possibly the Rebecca Rioters as an escape route. The passage purportedly runs from the Red Lion Public House to the parish church.

The Cyhiraeth

Llannon was said to be the spiritual home of the Cyhiraeth (Crying Spirit). This spirit was heard at night moaning and groaning loudly as a warning of an impending death in the district. Joshua Coslet described the woeful noise in the 1700’s.
