Llanpumsaint Parish Church

The Red Bridge

In the 1820’s, a young William Griffiths was returning home at about 3am past a place called Red Bridge, which was reputedly haunted. As he hurried through the spot, the apparition in “the shape of a man” appeared, and began to give chase! Thankfully, William managed to outrun the ghost, and sough refuge at the village forge, where a man was still working. Poor William had to be taken home on a cart!
