Blaenporth Parish Church

Mair Wen

Mair Wen translates as White Mary, and she was the local ghost of Blaenporth. It is said that she once solved a theft from the village church. The account states that she knocked on the front door of Tan-yr-Eglwys Farm on night and informed the farmer that the silver communion cup had been stolen and begged him to retrieve it. She disclosed the culprit and his whereabouts. The farmer acted upon the information, found the thief and returned the cup to the church.
