An Answered Prayer

Sometime in the 1800’s, a Rev John Jones was travelling the road from Bala to Machynlleth on horseback when he noticed a man nearby watching him with a criminal intent. He could see that the man was holding a sickle, and he was in no doubt that the man was about to rob him when he drew level. Rev Jones uttered a prayer. Within moments he was joined by a horseman “in a dark dress, mounted on a white steed who began to accompany him along his route. The would-be robber turned and ran, shielding his sickle as he did so. Rev Jones turned to the dark stranger and thanked him. The stranger replied “Amen” and vanished!
