Llanymawddwy Village

Yr Hen Damberlain

The ghost that haunted the village of Llanymawddwy was named Yr Hen Damberlain. In life his actual name was James Thomas Tamberlain. Tamberlain was the son of the parish rector, but his behaviour was not in keeping with that you would expect. He was regarded as having an eye for the ladies and enjoyed a good drink at the pubs. Tamberlain died young in 1839, and it was said that not long after his spirit was seen wandering the village on a white horse he had owned in life, and also at the family home. However, it has been said that he has not been seen in a long time.
