St Thomas Church at Redwick

Church of St Thomas the Apostle

On a New Years Eve, many years ago, a group of bell-ringers sat playing cards in the loft of the church. But something did not agree with such a game taking place within consecrated walls, and made its presence known by bursting the door to the room open until the players gave up their game!

Tom the Lord

The tale of “Tom the Lord” involves the mischievous spirit of a former Lord of the Manor (who it is said liked the fruits of the apple a little too much), returning to his village. The spirit was said to have caused that much upset, that the clergy were eventually called to lay his troublesome soul to rest.
